Today was pretty fun. Short but fun. We started talking about how they teach you ( in police acadamy ) how to drive in certain cituations. We went back in yorkshire and he taught me how to like drift , and keep in control of the car during a high speed chase. It was fun. Then we pulled this very old man over. H e could barely move to even get his licence, I couldnt beleive he was even driving. But the officer let him go with a warning. That was about it.
Im starting to get bored with just riding around. Today we got a call because a neighbor's plants were growiing on the other persons yard. I guess its a big deal , I didnt really see where it was because they were very pretty. But we gave the lady a citation. She was acually very nice about it. Then from there we went to subway and he bought us food. When we were done we drove around looking for any traffic violations. Nothing really big happended today.
Once again today was a slow day , and i only stayed for an hour. We got in one call , which took for ever. A young girl stole from belles. She was crying like a baby when we got there. The store wanted to press charges so we had to arrest her. We did not take her to sarasota. Then he took me back to the station.
Today was my last day at the police department. I went into the office and said goodbye to everyone. I went on my last ride with Officer Graves. We made a traffic stop and gave him a ticket. But other then that no calls were made. We went and got pizza , then just drove around. I am glad I took this chance to work at the police department. It was fun and made me realize that being a officer is something i would love to do.
Today was a very slow day. I was paired with officer graves again. We rode around , for the most part of the time I was there. We talked about going to college , and getting into a police acadamy. I didnt realize how hard police acadamy is going to be , and how inshape im going to have to get. We made a traffic stop because the man was going all over the road. When Officer Graves went to the mans car , he was texting on his cell phone. He gave him a ticket and we went back to the police station. I had fun even tho , we didnt do much today,
Today I decided to do something diffrent. I went into the main office and sat with the ladys that do the paperwork side of the police department. I give them a lot of respect because I was so bord within about 20 minutes. I dont think any office job is something for me.
Today I stayed at the police station with the officers who are off duty from being injured. I had fun , we played cards and when people would come in we would write the reports for them. They took me to crime scene and showed me things they found in like 1974 , that they had to keep incase anythng ever came up. Also , I got to meet with the K9 officers and see how they there dogs work. It was so cool , they hid drugs in the parking lot then let the dog out , and the dogs found it so quick. The one dog mistle would not let me even five feet near his owner.
Today was a short day. We went to walmart because someone shoplifted about 2,000 dollars worth of things. They said they had disorder where they black out and dont remember things. Then he kept acting like he was blacking out when the officer was talking to him. It was so funny , so we took the man to sarasota jail , then headed back to the police station.
Today was my first day at Triangle Day Care. My aunt runs it from her house , and has about 5 kids that go there. This is not an ordanary daycare , it is for mentally disabled children. My brother goes tere , he has autism. When I got there I was introduced to the kids. They range in age from 1 - 17. I learned today that it is a very hard job having just one child who is disabled , but having 5 is incredably hard. I took Jane who is 3 and Octavier ( my brother ) who is 1 , on a walk. Then helped make lunch. I exspected them to be very picky but they wernt. I met one of the mothers , and they were telling me about raising a mentally disabled child , and i just feel so bad for the parents.
When I got to Triangle Day Care , the kids were taking a nap , except one Jermey. Jeremy has Ceribral Pausy. He is 15 , and honestly one of the sweetest people i have ever met. We played a video game untill the other kids woke up. Then i helped make lunch and fed the kids. Then I took them all in the play room and we watched finding nemo. I had fun and i love doing this.
Today was a pretty slow day and I only stayed for an hour and a half. Most of the kids were sick and stayed home. We had only Octavier and Holly today. They were pretty good , and I just helped my aunt clean , the kids slept most of the time I was there.
Today was park day. We took all the kids to the park which is next door to Triangle Day Care. It was nice and the kids had fun too , then we went and bought mcdonalds. I learned today you can not leave the room for one second while watching these kids. I left the room for a second and came back , the food was every where and they were playing in it. So that was my lesson for the day.
I have learned just because people are disabled they are no different that anyone else. They just think on a different level then us , and they are most deffinatly happier. Today was like any other day , but we got a new kid added on to the crew. He was so cute , his name was lealand. He just moved to this area from Washington state. He has MS. The whole day basically went to helping get situated , and everything.
Today was pretty fun. I made popcorn and all these treats for the kids and we watched the bee movie. I was more into it then the kids were but , it happens. Then most of the kids ( younger ones of course ) fell asleep and who ever was still awake we did face painting .. which ended up body paint , then went to paint the bathroom. So then I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the bathroom.
I dont know why but there was barley anyone here today. It was just my little brother and this kid Joel. So I decided it would be a good idea to take them to the mall and get them out of the house , which I later realized , it was not that good of an idea. I took my aunts car because it had the car seat in it for my brother , and on the way there is was raining. Joel thought it would be funny to open my window and let the rain come in on me. I tried to put up the window but as I was holding the window button up he was holding the other one down. So long story short it broke the motor in the window and I drove back to the house with the window down and the rain pouring inside. I looked like i just got out the shower. I wasnt happy.
We took the kids to the aquarium today. It was acually very fun , the only thing is i hate fish and im scared of them. The kids loved it. The only bad part was one of the kids Mikey who is 7 brought his pet gold fish with him , not in water but in his pocket. I didnt know he had the fish untill i seen him take it out of his pocket and throw it in the water. I freaked out and my aunt told me to get it out but like i said im afraid of fish so we just watched it sink to the bottom. It was almost to the bottom and some fish the size of me ate it. We told the aquarium director and she just laughed , but asked us not to have the kids near any open tanks any more.
Today was pretty slow. I made the kids grilled cheese when i got there , and we went out side and played kick ball. I always manage to get hurt or something gets broken when we go out side to play games , and it never fails. It was my turn to kick the ball and i kicked it right out of the yard and through the neighbors screened in pool. It was acually funny beause when it happend a few of the kids ran and hid , others went in and told my aunt , and this one kid mikey starting screaming BRITTANY DID IT MR. BRITTANY BROKE YUR THINGY. it was cute.
Today was a pretty slow day. We made rice crispy treats and colored some books. When the kids layed down I helped my aunt file some paper work for the daycare. Then one of the kids woke up and I drove him home. That was pretty much the day.
We went to the park today. We played baseball for a while , it seemed to be the only game the kids fully comprehended and I also think they just enjoyed me looking like a complete dork. I am in no sence cordenated at all , and lets just say baseball is not my sport. Then we had lunch at the park and went home. Most of the kids went down for a nap , josh and Joel stayed up with me. We played uno for awhile untill they finally went to sleep too.
Nothing really happened today. I made pizza with the kids , and my aunt had a clown come in to make baloons. They really enjoyed it and so did I. I tried to take pictures but some of the parents got really angry and didnt want me to use them in the powerpoint , but other then that today was slow.
Today was a quiet day , we all packed in the van and went to wallmart to but a wii. The kids loved it , and they were pretty good at it. I made a fool of myself , Im in no way a " video gamer .. " not my thing. But it was fun.
Today we played on the slip and slide. It was fun untill , Jason ran too far and ended up falling off the edge and cut his leg up. I felt bad , and almost passed out cause of the blood. But after that we had lunch , and i took a nap with them. It was a hard day.
Today was Mikeys Birthday , we made a huge cake. The kids helped me , : ]. It took 20 minutes to make it and 2 hours to clean up the mess. I cannot describe the mess that was through out the kitchen. They got a tad bit carried away , but they had fun , and I am very sure this was his best birthday ever. We also bought him a wii , cause he really enjoyed it when we played it at the house.
Today was fun , we took the kids to the mote aquarium then out to lunch afterwards. When we got back to the house I set up the slip and slide ( more for my enterainment then the kids ) , and we played on that for awhile. Then we watched Bolt. The kids all left then I stayed untill about six and helped clean up.
There were no kids here at all today , just my neice and nephew. My mom had brought over my dinner dress for prom , to show my aunt. I gave the kids fingerpaints to play with while I was making cookies and forgot my dinner dress was on the couch. When I came back into the room there was paint all over it. I tried to wash it out but the fabric was ruined and it took the color out , so unless i wanted a bleach spotted looking dress I had to throw it away. I cried for about an hour , it was horrible : ' ( .. But I ended up getting a new dress that night. This time im not taking it around the kids. : ]
Today I learned little kids and food dye , dont mix. We made cookies together and I let them have the food coloring , to mix in their dough. Well some ended up eating it & it turned their mouths green , other put it on their bodys , and my nephew decided to squirt it on my face , so I had to goto school with a green blotch on my face. It was great .. not really but there kids : ]
Octaviers sight teacher came today , i worked with him while my aunt took the kids in the pool. The teacher has showing me how to teach him how to read brale. It is very hard and takes a lot of concentraion. I do not understand how they exspect a little kid to sit there and focus on a book and carfully feel little bumps. But after she left I took him in the pool. I helped make them lunch , then we put them down for a nap.
Today was pretty easy and slow. I brought over the movie Ant. We watched that after making candy popcorn. We made a bunch of treats with the kids , and after the movie we let them help us make pizza. : ] it was very good. I thought it was funny , one of the kids nikey only eats the cheese on the pizza and I turned my back for one second and the cheese was off my pizza and a huge bite was missing out of it. Nikey took the cheese off my peice & gave a bite to the dog. He thought it was so funny.
When I got there today all the kids were sleeping , they just layed down. So my sister & I started sewing jewels on my little sisters dress. My sister ocieanna does beauty pagents , following in my foot steps. The dress is a peach color and white. Il have to take a picture of it when she gets the dress done. We also had to dye the under poof , then we put jewels on the shoes. They all slept for awhile , when nikey woke up I just made him a sandwhich and soup. Finally , everyone woke up & we all went swimming.
Today was very slow , my sister acually just helped me do my hair when the kids were sleeping and when they woke up we had them help us make tacos. Nikey had a friend with him in day care today and he threw a rock at him , so he had to sit in timeout. That honestly was the whole day.
Today we found a turtle walking on the front lawn. The kids were amazed by it. So we all went out there to go look and it was huge. I was gussing it was a mother turtle cause the babys were right behind it , it had to weigh at least 20 pounds. It was adorable untill my little brother picked up a baby turtle and started licking its shell. Thats how he feels things because he is blind. But over-all it was an easy fun day.
Today we took the kids to Nicolas in Englewood. It is an Italian restraunt that a friend of the famly owns. We took the kids in the back so they could help make their own pizzas and salads. It was pretty fun , not the best day to wear a white shirt but , it ended up being a nice day.

ReplyDeleteToday was Mikeys Birthday , we made a huge cake. The kids helped me , : ]. It took 20 minutes to make it and 2 hours to clean up the mess.
